Cardinal Health at-Home Solutions Acquires AdaptHealth’s Diabetes Unit and DME Supplier Strive Medical
The two acquisitions cost approximately $360 million in cash.

July 20, 2026 by Laurie Watanabe

Cardinal Health has acquired the diabetes health business from AdaptHealth Corp. — and has also purchased Strive Medical, an Irving, Texas-based durable medical equipment supplier specializing in urology, wound care and ostomy supplies.

Cardinal Health (NYSE: CAH) announced both acquisitions late in the afternoon on July 20. Combined, the acquisitions “total approximately $360 million in cash, subject to working capital adjustments,” the company said.

Both acquisitions will be added to the company’s growing at-Home Solutions business, CEO Jason Hollar said in the announcement.

“These strategic transactions build on the synergies created by our recent investments in home care,” said Hollar. “As a natural extension of our at-Home Solutions growth strategy, they expand our enterprise-wide depth and breadth across important therapeutic categories like diabetes management and urology, further strengthening our leadership in a highly dynamic industry.”

AdaptHealth’s diabetes care business was serving more than 225,000 patient per year, operating “primarily as a centralized, mail-order, direct-to-patient model that delivers supplies like continuous glucose monitors to support the ongoing management of diabetes,” Cardinal Health said.

AdaptHealth: Sale of diabetes business is part of growth strategy

In a separate news announcement, Suzanne Foster, AdaptHealth’s CEO, said, “The divestiture of our diabetes health business is the latest — and most significant — step in a deliberate, multi-year effort to focus AdaptHealth on our core businesses where we have the strongest competitive position and the clearest path to growth. Over the past two years, we have systematically reshaped our portfolio around our core sleep, respiratory and supporting HME [home medical equipment] business lines, where we cross the threshold of the home to deliver clinical value to patients.”

Cardinal Health paid $235 million in cash for the diabetes business, AdaptHealth said.

Foster said the sale would “realize the asset’s full potential,” adding, “We are confident that in Cardinal Health, diabetes health is going to an owner that has the scale and operational capabilities required. For AdaptHealth, this transaction allows us to redeploy capital toward our core strengths, further strengthen our balance sheet, and accelerate our pursuit of the compelling growth opportunities ahead of us in sleep and respiratory care.”

Cardinal Health said the acquired diabetes business would “enhance the framework” put in place when the company acquired Advanced Diabetes Supply, a deal that was completed in 2025.

“Our significant operational achievements in [fiscal year 2026] position us to continue building the country’s leading platform to deliver simplified, innovative and high-quality care in the home, both organically and through acquisition,” said Rob Schlissberg, president of Cardinal Health at-Home Solutions.

Strive Medical adds to at-Home’s supplies business

Cardinal Health also expands its supplies footprint with the addition of Strive Medical’s business.

Strive Medical served more than 20,000 patients each year “as one of the nation’s leading independent home medical supply providers specializing in urology, wound care and ostomy supplies, expanding Cardinal Health’s enterprise-wide capabilities in this critical therapeutic area,” the company added.
