Medtrade Owner to Be Acquired, Will Join Second Expo Company
Emerald Holding Inc. (NYSE: EEX), the company that owns and operates Medtrade, has entered an agreement to acquired by Apollo (NYSE: APO) and will join a second expo company “with the intention to combine the businesses to create a leading North American B2B experiential events and media platform.”
In a May 11 announcement, Apollo said it’s also entered a second definitive agreement to acquire expo company Questex LLC. Apollo intends “to combine the businesses to create a leading North American B2B experiential events and media platform.”
The platform created by joining Emerald and Questex would comprise about 160 events.
Emerald stockholders will be paid $5.03 per share, “representing a 42.1% premium to Emerald’s unaffected share price and implying an estimated closing enterprise value of approximately 1.5 billion.”
The 2026 edition of Medtrade took place in Phoenix in March. The conference and expo are scheduled for March 23-25, 2027, at the Fort Worth Convention Center in Fort Worth, Texas.

David Atkins — a retired New York police captain, Sept. 11 first responder, entrepreneur and author — will challenge attendees “to recognize how a single courageous decision can change momentum and unlock lasting personal and professional growth.” Atkins will address attendees on Tuesday, June 9.
Joe Delagrave, a two-time Paralympic Games medalist and head coach of the U.S. wheelchair rugby team, will discuss how the power of perseverance and leadership can be transformative. Delagrave will also use his experiences in consulting and counseling when he talks about sports and life lessons with attendees on Wednesday, June 10.
