Medicare Open Enrollment Begins Oct. 15

Medicare open enrollment for 2025 starts Oct. 15 and continues through Dec. 7.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will release its 2025 Medicare Advantage star ratings on Oct. 10. Star ratings are tied to Quality Bonus Payments for insurers.

New research from eHealth, a licensed insurance agency and independent insurance advisor, called this year’s enrollment period “a watershed event,” noting that “a significant percentage of Medicare Advantage and Part D plans expected to update premiums and adjust their benefits for 2025. Some are even withdrawing from local markets.”

Medicare beneficiaries who participated in the eHealth study said their biggest concerns for 2025 insurance are out-of-pocket costs, benefit changes, and prescription drug coverage.
