Featuring the American Pharmacists Association, the Board of Pharmacy Specialties, and the National Home Infusion Association.

January 23, 2025 by Laurie Watanabe

Board of Pharmacy Specialties Opens Search for Executive Director

The Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS), an autonomous division of the American Pharmacists Association (APhA), is searching for a new executive director following the retirement of William Ellis, MS, RPh, ICE-CCP, who served as executive director for the last 14 years.

A Jan. 14 announcement from APhA described the executive director role as “a pivotal leadership position, responsible for advancing the mission of the organization and guiding its strategic direction. This role involves collaborating with pharmacy leaders, health-care organizations, and policymakers to expand the impact of board certification in enhancing patient care. The executive director will oversee all aspects of BPS operations, including certification program development, stakeholder engagement, financial management, and organizational growth.”

Candidates should have strong backgrounds in pharmacy practice, leadership experience in professional organizations, “and a commitment to enhancing patient care through specialized certification.” Candidates can view the full job posting and submit applications on the APhA website.

Registration is open for the National Home Infusion Association’s (NHIA) 2025 annual conference.

The conference is scheduled for March 29-April 2 at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center near Washington, D.C. Attendees include pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, home infusion reimbursement and billing professionals, clinical management staff, intake professionals and nurses. A sterile compounding clinic will be held March 30.
