ACHC Now Providing In-Home Hospital Care Accreditation
Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC) has launched an accreditation program for home-based acute health care providers.
In a Nov. 20 news announcement, ACHC said the new program is “aimed at setting industry standards for safety, quality and patient-centered care in the rapidly evolving field of home-based acute health care.
“We’re seeing a significant movement toward providing higher-acuity care for chronic and episodic conditions in the home,” said Patrick Horine, vice president, acute care, at ACHC. “In-home hospital care accreditation reflects the broader ‘hospital-at-home’ trend, which emphasizes patient-centered care outside traditional inpatient settings. Our accreditation aims to improve patient outcomes by ensuring safety, quality, consistency and high standards of care across this evolving care delivery model.”
DispatchHealth, a Denver, Colorado-based provider, was the first company to achieve ACHC new accreditation. DispatchHealth visits patients’ homes to treat such conditions as congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, pneumonia, and COVID-19.
Survey: Business Travel Can Hurt Mental Health
While there’s no doubt that traveling for business can be a career boost, it can also be emotionally and physically draining.
A new survey from Booking.com Business revealed that 23% of business travelers “worry about health challenges such as sleep loss, stress management and diet. They’re also concerned about getting sick and about the impact of long flights on physical health.”
Additionally, 18% of survey respondents said being in new environments and losing the rhythm of a familiar routine has resulted in health issues including anxiety. And then there’s the very real physical toll: 22% of respondents said they are more prone to getting sick while traveling, due to different climates, foods and sanitation standards.
And 22% of travelers said they missed their families while on the road and found it difficult to maintain family relationships while traveling.
In response to these stressors, the survey also asked how many travelers made conscious efforts to stick to a healthy diet (48% said yes), exercise (48%), reach out to family and friends at home (47%), and sightsee to explore their new surroundings (29%).
Take a look at the entire survey, as well as other ways that your fellow travelers accentuate the positive aspects of hitting the road.
