The American Association for Homecare (AAHomecare) is holding its 2026 Washington Legislative Conference on May 13-14, with Capitol Hill meetings on May 14. Advocates will be driving support for H.R. 2005 (DMEPOS Relief Act of 2025), H.R. 1703 (Choices for Increased Mobility Act), and H.R. 2902 (Supplemental Oxygen Access Reform Act of 2025). The Hilton Washington D.C. Capitol Hill will serve as event headquarters.
Members of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) will gather for their annual AASM Hill Day on April 14 to speak to legislators and their staffs on policies that impact sleep medicine and patient care. Among the talking points on this year’s agenda: Urging the permanent adoption of standard time at the federal level. AASM says standard time “aligns best with human circadian biology” and that evidence supports “the distinct benefits of standard time for health and safety.”
A new white paper by MedTech Europe’s Wound Care Sector Group is highlighting the urgent need for chronic wounds to be made a health care priority.
The report estimates that 1% to 2% of European residents — from 7.4 to 14.9 million people — are living with chronic wounds, “placing a significant burden on patients, caregivers and health care systems.” Wound care is accounting for up to 4% of total health care expenses, the report added.
“Despite their prevalence and severity, chronic wounds remain under recognized in policy, often treated as secondary conditions rather than a public health priority,” the white paper said. “The consequences are significant: Diabetic foot ulcers alone carry a five-year mortality rate, comparable to some cancers.”
The report advocates for holistic, patient-centered care using evidence-based approaches that promote shared decision making; increased investment in and training of multidisciplinary teams; and aligning reimbursement with patient outcomes and quality of care.
