Medline Industries Unveils Louisiana Distribution Center

Medline Industries welcomed Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards, officials from Tangipahoa Parish, and hundreds of guests to a ribbon cutting and the official grand opening for a $72 million Medline distribution center in Hammond, La. The 650,000 square-foot facility will serve healthcare professionals in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas.

In an April 25 news announcement, Medline quoted Edwards as saying, “This is a tremendous state-of-the-art facility; there’s not one that’s more efficient anywhere, and it’s right here in Louisiana. I could not have been more impressed, whenever I’ve toured this facility, to see how efficient it is, and the scale in which it’s going to be able to provide hospitals, nursing homes and other providers with the things they need to deliver high-quality care.”

In the announcement, Medline Industries said the distribution center “supports a payroll of over $4.5 million” and is expected to create 450 full-time jobs in the area once the facility is working at full capacity.

Medline added, “The facility distributes more than $200 million in annual medical supply sales.”

Steve Miller, Medline’s Executive Vice President of Supply Chain, said in the announcement, “This building stands as a testament to Medline’s commitment to making healthcare run better in the state of Louisiana.” Miller added that the new distribution center “really embodies Medline’s vision to be a recognized leader in supply chain and a competitive advantage for our customers.”
