NEMEP Seeking Support for Medicaid Pharmacy Carve-Out

The Northeast Medical Equipment Providers Association (NEMEP) is seeking support for a Medicaid carve-out that includes DME.

In a March 27 bulletin to stakeholders, NEMEP said, “New York State is transitioning its pharmacy program from Medicaid Managed Care back to Medicaid Fee for service effective April 1, 2023. This is important, as the carve-out includes medications, catheters, breast pumps, wound care, enteral nutrition, incontinence, CGM [continuous glucose monitors] and many other DME items.”

NEMEP added, “This will result in better patient access and better patient care while also increasing reimbursement to DME providers.”

The association is asking suppliers and other advocates to send messages of support to elected officials. By visiting the American Association for Homecare (AAHomecare) Web site, advocates can send a pre-written message to state senators and assembly members.

“Please don’t forget,” NEMEP added, “to share with interested friends and colleagues in New York State."
