The Industry’s Fight to Fix Reimbursement

AAHomecare’s Jay Witter details the legislative efforts to secure 90/10 reimbursement for Round 2021’s 13 uncontracted categories and extend the 75/25 blended rate for non-rural, non-CBA suppliers.

DMEPOS suppliers continue to be saddled with Medicare reimbursement rates stuck at 2016 levels, despite the ever-expanding cost of doing business, particularly in the time of Covid. Moreover, those rates impact HME reimbursement well beyond Medicare. Well, two legislative efforts are underway to try and change that.

In the latest episode of the HME Business Podcast, Jay Witter, the senior vice president for public policy at the American Association for Homecare, discusses work being done to advance H.R. 6641 as well as preserving the current 75/25 blended rate for non-rural, non-CBA suppliers beyond the end of the public health emergency (PHE).
