Calif. Provider Rolls Out In-Person Respironics Remediation

Home Oxygen Company has launched an in-person replacement service of recalled Philips Respironics CPAP devices.

Home Oxygen Company (Modesto, Calif.) has implemented in-person remediation of recalled Philips Respironics equipment, starting last week, after receiving multiple pallets of replacement units.

The program was the result of months of planning, according to the company, which provides respiratory and sleep device services to California’s Central Valley.

“We decided at the onset to handle this ourselves,” said Andrea Ewert, CEO of Home Oxygen Company, adding that her company wanted to handle the remediation itself. “We are already seeing the positive results and feedback from our patients,” she added.

Home Oxygen Company is also hand delivering all replacement units due to the problem of theft and loss of mail packages as well as delays with all the national logistics carriers.

“We wanted to assure our patients have their new unit in their hands before the mail system further complicates this already delicate situation,” Ewert said.

Additionally, Home Oxygen Company has produced quick orientation videos to quickly familiarize patients with their replacement units.
