Providers Prep for Heartland

Next week marks the 20th anniversary of the VGM event, which features an in-person format with mask and social distancing guidelines, as well as virtual educational sessions.

HME providers from around the country and prepping to attend VGM & Associates’ 20th annual Heartland Conference, which runs next week from Sept. 13-15 in Waterloo, Iowa.

Along with traditional in-person presentations, the two-day conference and networking event will also feature a virtual component. For the in-person event, VGM is taking care to take COVID-19 transmission protocols such as indoor mask requirements; socially distanced seating during the education events; all-outdoor social events; and half-capacity transportation services. For remote attendees, the event is offering 22 virtual sessions.

The conference will cover areas such as respiratory, accessibility, rehab, leadership, operations, sales and marketing, billing and reimbursement. Together, the in-person and virtual sessions offer nearly 70 options for registrants to earn contact hours. In-person attendees alone can earn an estimated 14 contact hours/CEUs.

In addition to Heartland’s well-known social events, such as its river-side hog roast and fireworks display, Emmy award winner and National Speaker’s Association Hall of Famer Mark Scharenbroich, CSP, CPAE, will deliver this year’s keynote presentation, “Nice Bike,” which looks at making meaningful connections.

“Heartland has always been about bringing people together to be part of something bigger — a community,” said Clint Geffert, president of VGM & Associates. “With our outstanding lineup of speakers, education, and social events, Heartland’s 20th year is going to be one of the best experiences yet.”
