Rehab Medical Expands Texas Footprint

The National CRT provider has Acquired Austin Wheelchair Company, which has grown from a custom wheelchair company to a multi-line HME provider.

National CRT provider Rehab Medical has expanded its Texas market presence with the acquisition of Austin Wheelchair Company.

Austin Wheelchair Co.’s eight-person operation, including two ATPs, will all transition to Rehab Medical’s team.

For longer than 20 years, Austin Wheelchair Co. has served mobility users in the Lone Star State, growing its business from a custom wheelchair provider to a full-service HME provider.

“When we look at growth through acquisition, it is critical to find the right fit,” said Rehab Medical President Kevin Gearheart. “Specifically, we look for providers who are just as passionate about service excellence and the patient experience as we are. Austin Wheelchair exemplifies those characteristics, and we are looking forward to building on the great foundation of care that is currently in place.”

With the Austin Wheelchair Co. acquisition, Rehab Medical now operates in three major metro markets in Texas and has a total of 28 operating offices nationwide. In the last three years the company has expanded its footprint into new markets in Florida, Ohio, Indiana, and Tennessee.
