Humana Inc. has agreed to acquire One Homecare Solutions (onehome) from WayPoint Capital Partners, the private equity affiliate of a New York-based family investment office.
Coordinating the needs of patients, physicians, hospitals and health plans for home-based patient care, onehome manages post-acute needs such as home medical equipment services, infusion care, nursing, occupational therapy, and physical therapy.
The acquisition aligns with Humana’s strategy to build a value-based home health offering. Besides developing a valued-based model in Florida and Texas, onehome has also served Humana members since 2015.
In a public statement, Humana highlighted onehome’s HME services, particularly that its HME and infusion services for members in its existing geographies can be expanded to other markets. Also, that onehome’s HME services can deliver more value and better outcomes through reduced waste and more consistent equipment utilization by members.
“By combining onehome’s value-based approach with Kindred’s home health services and Humana’s analytical capabilities and clinical expertise, we believe we can create a transformational value-based offering to serve more people, including non-Humana plan members, nationwide,” said Susan Diamond, segment president for Humana’s Home Business and Humana’s interim CFO.
Financial terms were not disclosed. The acquisition is expected to close in the second quarter of 2021, according to Humana, and is subject to customary state and federal regulatory approvals.
“Since first launching onehome in 2013, we have had a front-row seat at the care-in-the-home revolution that is driven by our society’s desire to positively impact clinical outcomes, affordability, and patient experience,” said Ramon Falero, CEO and co-founder of onehome.
