Patty Mastandrea Named 2020 HME Woman of the Year
VGM’s Mike Mallaro confers award to MedCare Equipment CEO in a special virtual ceremony.

Patty Mastandrea, CEO of MedCare Equipment Co. LLC (Greensburg, Pa.), has been named the 2020 HME Woman of the Year.
Mike Mallaro, CEO of VGM Group Inc., which sponsors the award program, conferred the fifth annual award on Mastandrea during a special virtual ceremony today.
“On behalf of our entire VGM team, I am honored to present Patty Mastandrea with this award, which she has earned over three decades of service to the HME industry,” Mallaro said during the award presentation. “Patty’s relentless energy and drive for excellence has helped raise the bar across the industry, and she is precisely the type of person we need to lead this business into the future.”
The HME Woman of the Year award recognizes one woman in the industry who has made significant contributions throughout her career to her company, community and the HME industry.
Mastandrea was selected from four other finalists, who were narrowed down from an initial list of more than 100 nominees. Mastandrea fellow finalists were:
- Carol Gilligan-Chack, president and owner, Health Aid of Ohio
- Tamme Dustin, CEO, Herron & Smith, LLC
- Terry Racciato, president, RAC & Associates
As mentioned, Mastandrea has more than 30 years of experience in healthcare. Prior to her CEO role at MedCare, she served as its chief operating officer for 15 years. The company operates seven distribution centers, employs 350 clinical and customer service staff, and produces annual revenues of $83 million.
As MedCare’s CEO, Mastandrea was recognized with the 2015 HME Excellence Award for MedCare’s growth. MedCare was also accredited by The Compliance Team as an Exemplary Provider under Mastandrea’s leadership, and she serves on several industry advisory boards as well as her local chamber of commerce.
