The leader of the Northeast Medical Equipment Providers (NEMEP) Association announced on Wednesday that the group's annual conference and exhibit show, planned for April 1-2 in Tarrytown, N.Y., has been postponed due to concerns over the coronavirus pandemic.
"NEMEP has been closely monitoring the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) situation to ensure we are taking the necessary precautions to support the health of our meeting attendees and the communities they serve in the New York and New Jersey areas," John Quinlan, president of NEMEP, told members by email. "As a result, NEMEP is postponing the Annual Meeting."
The organization is now "making every effort" to provide educational sessions to providers through webinars and video conferences. More details will be shared about those plans as they become available, Quinlan wrote.
In addition, NEMEP is working to find a location and date in the future to hold a face-to-face annual meeting. Members have the option to hold their fees with NEMEP for the future gathering or educational webinars. Registrants can also request a refund by emailing Beth@NorthEastMEP.org.
"Our goal is to provide some of the education we planned to offer at the Annual Meeting through a series of webinars, perhaps adding other topics of concern, in the next couple months and your NEMEP Annual Meeting Fees can be used for that future education which will be prorated per session," Quinlan wrote.
Titled “UNITED: All In This Together,” the annual gathering of New York and New Jersey-area providers planned to feature over 20 exhibitors and educational sessions with speakers from the American Association for Homecare, VGM, Dynamic Consulting and Noridian, among others.
This article has been updated to reflect NEMEP's announcement on March 11 postponing the gathering.
