AAHomecare Unveils New Format for Medtrade Spring Update

To help providers understand its broad range of payer relations and advocacy services, AAHomecare is working with HME Business to implement a more interactive AAHomecare Update at the upcoming Medtrade Spring.

The American Association for Homecare will introduce a new format for its AAHomecare Update at the upcoming edition of Medtrade Spring, which will be held March 3-5 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas.

Scheduled for March 4 from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., the new AAHomecare will feature a new format and will be hosted by David Kopf, the publisher and executive editor of HME Business, which has also been the long-running sponsor of the AAHomecare Update.

The new format will feature Kopf interviewing Ryan and various members of AAHomecare executive team about key developments and initiatives in their various areas of expertise. Each segment will include ample time for audience Q&A:

The interview-style discussion will include:

  • Tom Ryan, president and CEO of AAHomecare
  • Jay Witter, senior vice president of Public Policy
  • Kim Brummett, vice president of Regulatory Affairs
  • Laura Williard, vice president of Payer Relations

“I have to say, it’s an honor to host the AAHomecare update,” Kopf said. “I’m really looking forward to it. I think it’s going to be informative, and the new format is going to be a lot of fun and foster some productive discussion with the audience.”

Ryan noted that the new format is part of a larger effort to keep providers aware of the fact that AAHomecare is operating in multiple “lanes” of advocacy on behalf of providers, and the Update gives the association to keep providers apprised of those efforts and hopefully get them involved. That’s why the Update has a new name, the AAHomecare Update, rather than the previous moniker, the Washington Update, which is much too narrow when compared to the association’s ever-broadening mission.

“Getting people to understand we’re a larger, broader, market segment-related association is really important,” he explained. “… We’re out in your neighborhoods; we’re working on payer relations issues across the country.

“hen you roll up your sleeves up and feel challenged, you’re not alone,” he added. “You have a national industry association that is fighting the same issues you’re fighting. But we’re fighting them on a global level and we’re making wins and turning headwinds in tailwinds.”
