Thomas Babacan Takes Reins at Sunrise
New president and CEO brings a long career of corporate leadership to wheelchair and scooter maker.

Wheelchair and scooter maker Sunrise Medical has appointed Thomas Babacan, a leader of various manufacturing companies, as the company’s president and CEO.
Sunrise tapped Babacan for his background as a leader in global, innovation-driven businesses. Before joining Sunrise Medical, Babacan was the CEO of commercial refrigeration and freezing systems maker AHT Cooling. Before that, he was CEO of water solutions manufacturer VAG-Group. Babacan’s other leadership positions included CEO of Leybold Vacuum, CEO of Oerlikon Textile and COO for OC Oerlikon.
“Thomas, with his global sales and operations experience, is well suited to lead Sunrise Medical on its ambitious growth journey,” said Johan Ek, chairman of Sunrise Medical.
Babacan will start as president and CEO on Nov 1.
