VGM Government Relations is gearing up for its “August of Action” push to advance H.R. 4229 and other industry concerns and is working to help its members schedule meetings with their legislators and staff sooner, rather than later.
The Senate will recess Aug. 6 through Sept.3, and the House will recess Aug. 1 through Sept. 3, during which time those lawmakers and their staff will return to their home states and districts. This provides an excellent opportunity for providers to meet with them and industry- and care-related concerns.
VGM reminded its members in a message to its members that lawmakers and their staffs are already filling their calendars, so if providers want to schedule and meetings, town halls, or appointments, then “now is the time to act.”
“In order to have the most success with changing Medicare policies in the fall, we need your help to build relationships with these members,” VGM’s statement read. “We need to keep the conversation going about H.R. 4229, the IFR, competitive bidding, and other important issues to protect providers’ ability to care for their patients.
To help its members prepare for their meetings, VGM Government Relations will schedule meetings, offer coaching sessions on how to speak with legislators, and provide members with concise talking points to best convey their messages.
