Bachenheimer to Serve as AAHomecare General Counsel
Once well-known industry advocate joins Brown & Fortunato on June 1 she will provide General Counsel support to industry association.

The American Association for Homecare has retained Brown & Fortunato, P.C., a with a national health care practice, to provide a range of legal and advisory services.
HME advocate Cara Bachenheimer will join industry law firm Brown & Fortunato on June 1, and one of her first duties will be to provide General Counsel support for the American Association for Homecare.
AAHomecare has retained Brown & Fortunato, P.C. to provide a range of legal and advisory services. In her leading role, Bachenheimer will support the association in handling regulatory, legislative, and Association governance duties.
“Cara Bachenheimer is one of the most respected individuals in the HME advocacy arena,” said Tom Ryan, president and CEO of AAHomecare. “We are excited to add her considerable expertise and credibility to the fight for sustainable reimbursement rates and sensible regulatory policies for our industry.”
Bachenheimer served as senior vice president for government relations for Invacare Corp. over the last 14 years. Her 30 years of experience in the healthcare field includes roles as vice president of government relations for the Health Industry Distributors Association.
“I have had a front-row view of Cara’s work on HME public policy issues over the years, and I have always come away impressed by her depth of knowledge and strategic thinking,” Ryan added. “She has a great sense of what can practically be accomplished on Capitol Hill and at regulatory agencies and has a clear view of the best path forward to achieve it.”
Bachenheimer also has participated on AAHomecare’s Regulatory Council, and she has served on the Association’s Board of Directors since 2012. She has been recognized with various industry honors including the 2014 Homecare Champion award from AAHomecare
