The American Association for Homecare will honor industry advocate Gary Sheehan, president and CEO of Massachusetts-based Cape Medical Supply, as the recipient of the 2017 Van Miller Homecare Champion Award at the Stand Up for Homecare reception, which will be held Oct. 24, at the SkyLounge in the Glenn Hotel in Atlanta, Ga.
Renamed in honor of Van G. Miller, past CEO and founder of the VGM Group, the Homecare Champion Award recognizes AAHomecare members for their outstanding service to the HME community. The association noted Sheehan is a passionate and vocal advocate for HME; a leader on public policy issues; and an active participant at the state/regional level.
“He has built strong relationships throughout the New England Congressional delegation, both though lobbying on Capitol Hill and through regular in-district meetings, and has helped inspire many of his colleagues to take a more active role in advocacy on HME issues,” an AAHomecare statement read. “Sheehan has also served in numerous leadership roles with the Home Medical Equipment and Services Association of New England, and continues to move the industry forward though his efforts to engage the media. He also shares his expertise with the HME community by presenting at both local and national conferences and conventions.”
Sheehan grew up in the HME industry, building the company his parents started in 1977 into a highly respected provider serving patients through multiple locations in the region.
