VGM, HIPAAwise Partner for Online Compliance Program

VGM’s van Halem Group will work with maker of HIPAA software to offer HME providers a custom HIPAA-compliance program.

The van Halem Group division of The VGM Group and HIPAA compliance software company HIPAAwise will offer an online HIPAA compliance program tailored specifically for HME businesses and other post-acute care providers.

The partnership’s services will include HIPAAwise’s online dashboard, a van Halem Group implementation consultant, and ongoing support. The dashboard helps providers manage their HIPAA compliance by monitoring their policies and procedures; security and risk assessment; business associate management; employees’ HIPAA awareness; location and inventory tracking; and breach management.

Also, in the event of an audit from HHS's Office for Civil Rights (OCR), the compliance program will incorporates an OCR desk audit and onsite audit reports as well as audit support from The van Halem Group.

“Hardly a week goes by now where you do not read about a company facing millions of dollars in fines and penalties for HIPAA violations that could have been avoided,” said Wayne van Halem, president of The van Halem Group. “We’re very excited to offer this solution to the post-acute care market, which is particularly vulnerable.”

“The van Halem Group is among the industry’s foremost compliance consultancies, and this partnership was a logical choice for us to provide this tool and offer the necessary support required to implement and maintain a successful HIPAA compliance program,” said HIPAAwise founder Tom Meadows, who developed the application.

“We have always encouraged providers to be proactive and avoid compliance issues.,” van Halem added. “The HIPAAwise solution is a simple, efficient, comprehensive, and affordable solution that helps do just that. It complements the services we already offer very nicely.”
