Industry advocates are busy laying the groundwork for the American Association for Homecare’s next Washington Legislative Conference, which is slated for May 25 and 26 in Washington, D.C.
The conference provides HME providers and industry stakeholders an opportunity to meet with lawmakers and advocate on behalf their industry and patients.
At the top of the agenda will be to drive Congressional support for legislation that would delay the July 1 implementation of additional cuts through the national expansion of competitive bidding. Currently, the industry is working with lawmakers to advance the Patient Access to Durable Medical Equipment Act in the Senate, and is working to launch nascent legislation in the House.
At the event, AAHomecare staff and state association representatives will work with providers to schedule the right appointments. On May 25, the industry’s top legislative experts will help attendees understand the details of the key issues during a day-long series of seminars. Industry experts and legislative experts will also share tips on effective ways to establish working relationships with Congress members. Providers will receive issue handouts as well as leave-behind materials to give to lawmakers and staff during their appointments on the Hill. Attendees will also learn effective ways for following up with lawmakers’ offices after the Washington Conference in order to reinforce their messages.
