Medicare audit and compliance consulting firm The van Halem Group has expanded its team of consultants with the addtion of Kelly Grahovac, who will serve as a senior consultant.
Grahovac comes to the outfit after 10 years working at one of the Medicare contractors, including work with the durable medical equipment contractor, a qualified independent contractor (QIC), and an A/B medicare administrative contractor (MAC).
“Kelly was actually one of my employees when I worked for Medicare,” said Wayne van Halem, founder and president of The van Halem Group. “I actively recruited her to work for The van Halem Group, because I know she will be an excellent resource and asset to our clients and my business. Kelly has the knowledge, experience, and contacts to help guide our clients through the complex regulatory framework.”
Kelly worked as a Medicare customer relations representative, and then transferred to the QIC where she was a trainer for Reconsideration staff on DME coverage policies. She was shortly thereafter promoted to QIC Adjudicator, where she reviewed and decided second-level Medicare appeals for DME suppliers nationally as well as Part B appeals for the western region of the United States.
Her most recent role with Medicare was working as a senior provider relations representative with an A/B MAC where she developed and delivered corporate training courses to hospitals and physician office staff, medical billers, medical societies, and state associations. Kelly has in-depth knowledge in appeals, policy, and education and training.
“Having the chance to work with Wayne again as well as his clients is an exciting opportunity for me and I look forward to bringing my experience to bear on their behalf,” Grahovac said. “This is an important time for the industry and I’m glad to be a part of the premier team to help clients through a heightened oversight environment.”
