AAHomecare Announces New President and CEO

July 1, 2006 by HME Business

ALEXANDRIA , Va. &#151 Early last week, the American Association for Homecare (AAHomecare) announced a new president and CEO. Tyler J. Wilson will assume the role, effective Sept. 18, 2006.

“We are pleased to bring such a veteran of the Washington association world onboard,” said Tom Ryan, AAHomecare chairman, and CEO of Homecare Concepts, in a news release. “With his experience in trade associations, legal background and knowledge of DMEPOS, Tyler was the unanimous choice. The home care community is facing major challenges, and we are confident that Tyler is the right choice at the right time for AAHomecare.”

Wilson, an accomplished leader with more than 10 years of experience in trade associations, joins AAHomecare from the American Orthotic and Prosthetic Association (AOPA) where he served as the executive director since 2000. AOPA is an Alexandria, Va., trade association that represents more than 1,950 manufacturers, distributors and patient care facilities in the $3 billion prosthetics and orthotics industry.

Prior to his time at AOPA, Wilson spent six years managing the membership division and government affairs department at the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA) in Bethesda, Md., where his commitment and resourcefulness gained him the role of vice president.

Before joining AAIA, Wilson served as an attorney for legislative and regulatory affairs in the domestic policy division of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington, D.C. Wilson also worked as an attorney specializing in government relations and litigation at a Washington law firm.

Wilson earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Georgetown University and a law degree from Catholic University Law School, both in Washington, D.C.

His first priority at AAHomecare, Wilson says, will be to focus on areas where we can better serve our members and build unity in the industry in these critical times. “I look forward to leading AAHomecare and its members as the industry tackles critical issues, with one voice, for home care.”
