AAHomecare Adds to Government Relations and Communications Staff

July 1, 2007 by HME Business

The American Association for Homecare (AAHomecare) hired Alexandra Bennewith as senior manager of government relations and Tilly Gambill as manager of marketing and communications.

Bennewith brings extensive experience in government relations to the association, having most recently worked with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the Spina Bifida Association of America. In these organizations she gained expertise in legislative communications, led patient advocacy efforts and played a key role in strengthening grassroots communications. As senior manager of government relations at AAHomecare, Bennewith will address the myriad of legislative and regulatory issues facing the homecare community. She holds a master?s degree in public administration from American University in Washington, D.C. and a bachelor of arts degree in political science from Brandeis University in Massachusetts.

Gambill was hired to help AAHomecare meet its growing demand for communications with members, the media and policy audiences and will also provide marketing communications expertise focused on AAHomecare events and membership. She comes to the American Association for Homecare from Docs for Tots (DFT), a Washington-based advocacy network formed to encourage more doctors to fulfill their important role as active advocates for social issues affecting children’s health and development. As Communications Director for DFT, Gambill led media outreach and message framing efforts for the organization as well as work on print and electronic publications. Her experience also includes work with two regional publications in Florida and Arkansas. She holds a master’s of mass communications from the Grady School of Journalism at the University of Georgia and a bachelor of arts in communications and history from Ouachita Baptist University in Arkansas.

AAHomecare works to strengthen access to care for the millions of Americans who require home medical services, therapies and equipment. The association welcomes the new staff members’ experience, as it continues to advocate on behalf of the homecare community on legislative and regulatory matters.
