Medtrade East Unveils MedtradeMeet

New system for scheduling meetings at the show accompanies the return of Medtrade’s Power Lunches, as well as new mask requirements for the event.

Attendees of the upcoming Medtrade East event will note three important developments: a new meeting tool called MedtradeMeet, the return of the event’s Power Lunches, and a newly announced mask requirement.

MedtradeMeet

New for Medtrade East is MedtradeMeet, an improved system that helps registrants arrange one-on-one meetings with exhibitors. MedtradeMeet accounts are created as people register, and all registrants will be e-mailed log-in information for the brand new MedtradeMeet system.

Emerald, the business events company that produces Medtrade, has used the system at other shows and believes it will be a useful tool for Medtrade East attendees.

“MedtradeMeet is all about connecting buyers and sellers,” explains Sarah Varner, senior director of Marketing. “It’s about bringing together providers who are seeking new products or business-operating resolutions with exhibitors in a safe, efficient environment to do business— which is really the goal of Medtrade. We have invested in this platform to help facilitate those connections and make everyone’s time at Medtrade as productive as possible.”

MedtradeMeet allows attendees to search exhibitors and vice versa by product category/interest and job title, making it easy to find potential matches and request one-on-one meetings at the show.

“Accepted meetings will be held during the show in a designated MedtradeMeet space on the expo floor,” Varner adds. “It’s imperative that the first thing everyone does upon their initial login is to update their availability in the platform’s calendar.”

Power Lunches

Attendees can choose from seven topics:

Advance registration is required, with pricing and details at medtrade.com/attendee/pricing.

Masks Required

Keeping pace with pandemic trends and other trade events’ response to developments such as the Delta variant, Medtrade East will require masks for the Oct. 18-20 show.

“Recent industry shows have required masks,” says York Schwab, associate show director, Medtrade East. “At this point, it’s the right decision for the health and safety of our exhibitors and attendees.

“In the wake of stalled vaccinations rates, the Delta variant, and breakthrough infections, we felt it prudent to require masks,” he added. “The City of Atlanta is under a mask mandate as well, so this policy falls in line with what we are seeing throughout the city. Airlines and airports are still requiring masks as well, so it’s still a fact of life in many parts of society.”

Schwab says he is confident that this year’s show will remain an excellent opportunity to get back to doing business and developing relationships in person and noted that trade shows, in general, remain extremely safe.

“The Freeman event services company reports that in-person business events have an average vaccination rate of 80 percent,” he says. “A recent Retail B2B event in New York had a mask requirement, and Freeman reported that the infection rate was .02 percent, which amounts to a two-in-7,000 chance of an infection. It’s pretty remarkable. Walking the floor at Medtrade East will be safer than shopping in a grocery store.”
