Verma served as CMS administrator from November 2016 to January of 2021, serving under both HHS Secretaries Tom Price (a longtime HME industry ally) and Alex Azar. Prior to her work on CMS, Verma founded healthcare policy consulting firm SVC Inc. in 2001, which helped states such as Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky prepare for the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, as well as reform their state Medicaid programs.
A statement from WellSky said Verma’s experience creating national healthcare policies and developing technology standards should help the company accomplish its mission of transforming healthcare “at every level.”
“Seema is a nationally recognized health policy expert equipped with a deep understanding of the complexities of the healthcare industry,” WellSky CEO Bill Miller said. “With the addition of Seema to our board, WellSky and our clients gain a fierce advocate and thoughtful leader who will elevate and champion our vision to advance innovative solutions that arm providers, health systems, and payers with the tools to succeed in the world of value-based care.”
Verma also serves on the board of directors at Lumeris, LifeStance, and Monogram Health, and is a senior advisor to TPG, a global alternative asset firm and investor in WellSky.
