HME industry stakeholders are preparing for the American Association for Homecare’s upcoming Washington Legislative Conference, which runs May 22 and 23 at the Doubletree by Hilton Crystal City.
From the conference, they will travel across the Potomac to meet with lawmakers on Capitol Hill regarding industry legislative issues. Perhaps central to this year’s conference will be the newly launched H.R. 2771, which would implement permanent rural and non-bid area relief and eliminate the oxygen budget neutrality offset.
For providers that cannot attend the D.C. event, AAHomecare encourages them to contact their Representative’s office and talk to their lawmaker or healthcare staff about the issues affecting your business and patients. Also, they can go to the AAHomecare Action Center at action.aahomecare.org to find advocacy resources on various topics, including H.R. 2771.
The Wednesday keynote for this year’s event will be Nick Uehlecke, who is currently an advisor at the Department of Health and Human Services. Uehlecke previously served as a professional staff member for the House Ways and Means Health Subcommittee, where he worked on a range of issues including policies directly impacting HME; Medicare Advantage and Part D policies; and Medicare fraud and program integrity.
Also on Wednesday, AAHomecare will award the Mal Mixon Legislative Advocate Award to Barb Stockert, government relations Sanford HealthCare Accessories (Fargo, N.D.).
