HME and pharmacy software company QS/1 is partnering with Digital Pharmacist Inc. to offer secure, HIPAA-compliant patient communication so that patients can request and receive information from their pharmacy using devices such as smartphones.
Using websites and mobile apps patients will be able to submit and monitor the status refill requests, and pharmacies will be able to send refill reminders to help improve patient compliance.
Using cloud-based technology, pharmacies will use inbound refill services to accept and route refill requests to be filled. Outbound messaging can be sent to notify patients in a HIPAA-compliant manner when their prescriptions have been filled and are ready for pick-up.
“These services go beyond improving efficiency,” said Tabb Stringer, QS/1 Vice President, Product Management. “These services allow pharmacy staff to focus on what is important, spending time and talking with patients to fully understand their health concerns and needs.”
