HME providers have been required to obtain Medicare accreditation for nearly a decade, but they quickly learned that in addition to letting them bill Medicare, accreditation gave them new ways to differentiate their businesses to referral partners.
Now we’re seeing specialized accreditation programs take that strategic differentiation further by giving them additional ways to further refine the care they offer in their areas of expertise.
For example, The Compliance Team Inc. recently won the 2018 New Product Award for its Patient-Centered Respiratory Home Accreditation, and also announced that Sherman, Texas-based Breath of Life is the first provider to earn the new accreditation.
I sat down with Sandra Canally, the founder and CEO of The Compliance Team, and Blume Loe, owner and director of Breath of Life, to talk about the new accreditation program and why Blume’s business opted to pursue this new program.
