In August, VGM closed nominations for their annual HME Woman of the Year Award with 39 women nominees ranging from a broad spectrum of providers, manufacturers and other professionals in HME. Ahead of Medtrade in Atlanta next month, VGM has announced the four finalists:
- Karen Atkins, CEO and president of Mobility First
- Georgie Blackburn, vice president of Government Relations and Legislative Affairs at BLACKBURN’S
- Colleen Hunter, CEO and president of Browning’s Pharmacy and Health Care
- Deanne Sandvold, vice president and owner of EZ-ACCESS
Each of the finalists has worked in HME for more than 20 years, and they were selected based on recommendations from an honorary selection committee, which included the 2017 winner Barbara Leech, CEO of Healthline Medical Equipment. When choosing the finalists, the committee considered the nominees’ implementation of new business processes, advocacy on behalf of the industry and improvement of the patients’ lives and her community.
“These women are determined advocates and leaders – serving our industry selflessly for years,” said Clint Geffert, president of VGM & Associates. “They exemplify the dedication and innovation required to have a positive impact not only on their business and coworkers, but also the customers and the communities they serve.”
The winner will be announced during a special ceremony at Medtrade. The annual conference is Oct. 15-17, 2018, in Atlanta.
