Merits Health Products Inc.’s new AVID division has officially launched its first complex rehab power chair, the Vector.
The Vector aims to provide a multi-function power rehab chair that is capable of tackling a variety of surfaces. The chair supports up to 300 lbs., and has a range of 24 miles and top speed of 5 mph. Dual in-line motors aim to offer enhanced efficiency, torque, range and performance.
The center of gravity changes according to sliding seat, and the seat has adjustable width and depth (16 in., 18 in., 20 in.) for customized fitting. An optional seat elevator and power footplate, or power elevating leg rests are available.
To make the chair a possibility, Merits beefed out AVID’s team of experts.
“A strong team is critical to the success of a company,” said Chris Blackmore, director of Business and Product Development for Merits. “As we thought about launching and selecting a team we wanted the right people representing our brand. We are happy to announce the hiring of industry veterans Dave Jones, ATP and Mike Pennington, ATP. They are the first of many as we look to build out the AVID division at Merits Health Products Inc.”
“The Vector couldn’t have a more timely launch,” Jones said. “The market needs complex rehab products with the right features that are economically sound. With reimbursement cuts manufacturers must develop products that meet the needs of end users but can be delivered cost competitively. This doesn’t mean cutting corners, this means good design and great quality all at the right price. The Vector does all of this.”
AVID is now accepting orders for the Vector.
