Compression garment maker SIGVARIS has completed a definitive agreement to purchase the BiaCare business, which the company says should help it expand its offerings for patients needing medically complex compression therapy options, a rapidly growing market segment.
BiaCaremanufactures short stretch wraps, compression garments and other products designed to treat patients with veno-lymphatic diseases and disorders.
“This transaction allows us to acquire an established manufacturer with a strong position in the U.S. market,” says Urs H. Toedtli, CEO of the SIGVARIS Group. “BiaCare’s innovative line of compression products designed to treat lymphedema, lipedema, chronic venous insufficiency and other complex edemas immediately broadens the SIGVARIS offering.”
Scot Dubé, president and CEO for SIGVARIS North America, says the acquisition will give SIGVARIS’ an opportunity to serve more patients under a single brand.
“By sharing our know-how, we create a platform with growth potential in North America to offer additional therapeutic medical products while strengthening our position as a solution provider for medical professionals and patients,” he said.
