Patient lift maker Harmar and mobility provider 101 Mobility have teamed up to donate a P350 Pool Lift to 12-year-old Grayson Tullio.
Grayson Tullio is afflicted with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a terminal disease that breaks down all the muscles in ones limbs and ultimately their heart. With the progression of this disease comes the inability to have the freedom and independence of mobility. The disease robs those stricken with it of the ability to do the simplest of things that most of us do without a second thought. The Pool Lift was presented just before Christmas and restored Grayson Tullio’s ability to get in and out of the pool for hydro therapy without burdening his parents as he has grown.
“Harmar’s pool lifts, vertical platform lifts, stairlifts and auto lifts are all designed to give those who are mobility challenged greater independence and quality of life,” said David Baxter, Harmar vice president of marketing. “Stories like Grayson’s and many others is the reason Harmar develops innovative products that help those in need overcome daily challenges. For Grayson, swimming puts a smile on his face and gives him great joy and we were so pleased we could help him and his family.”
“We spent some time researching pool lifts and found out rather quickly via the internet that Harmar had the one we wanted,” said Jennifer Tullio, Grayson’s mother. “His only form of exercise is swimming and he loves it. Harmar gave that to our son”.
Harmar’s local dealer, 101 Mobility of Sarasota, donated its time and expertise to perform the site evaluation and installation. 101 Mobility sent its personnel to ensure the best set up for the lift and installed it. Upon completion, Grayson was led to the pool area as a total surprise. After a quick orientation, he took right to the lift and repeatedly lifted himself in and out of the pool with a grin from ear to ear.
