Sleep therapy equipment maker 3B Medical reports it will allocate “a significant portion” of its profits to fund research into proof-of-concept studies in use of adipose derived autologous mesenchymal stem cells.
Those types of cells can be used to treat of pulmonary fibrosis, diabetes and neurological diseases.
“We spend a lot of resources treating the symptoms of diseases, and not enough trying to target the actual causes,” said Thomas Thayer, senior president of the company. “The use of autologous stem cells in regenerative medicine shows considerable promise in changing so many lives.
“That has always been the core mission of 3B,” he continued. “We are going to lead the way by committing a portion of our resources to try and bring some of this technology to market.”
