This year marks the return of Medtrade to Atlanta. After a brief vacation in Orlando, Fla., the show will once again occur in the Big Peach at the Georgia World Congress Center from Oct. 20 to Oct. 23, which the expo floor open Oct. 21 to Oct. 23. That showroom has remained one of Medtrade’s strong points because it attracts a wide array of new DME offerings for providers to explore and examine. This year looks to offer a solid haul, as manufacturers are already giving sneak previews of what’s in store for show attendees. Let’s take a look at what we can expect to see at the expo:

Mattress Manufactured for Durability, Support
The Softform Premier Mattress features a contoured foam insert which provides excellent patient comfort and optimizes pressure reduction for patients up to “very high” risk. Castellated cells break the surface tensions of the foam, allowing the patient to be immersed into the foam, maximizing body contact area and optimizing pressure reduction. Compression Fitter Education, CEUs
In addition to displaying various compression offerings at its booth on the show room, Juzo will be offering “Understanding Vein Disease and Compression Therapy,” a course on the vein system, how it becomes incompetent, and how the disease progresses. Presented by Caroline Pinney, national education and training manager for Juzo, the course is approved for 7.5 credits through ABC and BOC. The workshop will focus on lower extremity wounds and how to differentiate the four major lower extremity wound types. Also, attendees will learn when and how to use compression garments; management and prevention of vein disease; and gain hands on experience to safely measure, fit and select the appropriate compression garment. New General DME Program Covers Face-to-Face
DMEevalumate.com will be exhibiting its recently unveiled General DME program, to complement its power mobility device (PMD) and respiratory face-to-face documentation tool for physicians. The General DME module provides standardized online documentation and complete outputs for nine frequently vended DME items: manual wheelchairs, canes, crutches, walkers, hospital beds, support surfaces, commodes, urological supplies and diabetic supplies. The new General DME module provides online face-to-face evaluations for 73 of the 166 items covered by CMS’s face-to-face rule, and produces the appropriate order and face-to-face notes in a preferred Medicare format.
