People for Quality Care reached out to area senior citizens and VGM employees in the Waterloo, Iowa area to join Van Miller in supporting the market pricing program (MPP) and encouraging Sen. Chuch Grassley (R-Iowa) to push for a Congressional Budget Office cost analysis as they discussed with his staff recently in Washington, D.C.
The effort culminated in a letter that was signed by 458 residents and VGM employees before being sent to the Senator. The letter can be viewed as a PDF at http://peopleforqualitycare.org/uploads/articles/00399c32a63561e5c93df9146b57de74.pdf.
“After meeting with the senator’s staff at the AAHomecare lobby day, we were left to wonder if the senator would follow through with his support for MPP. We want it to be a hard message to forget, so we’re asking his constituents to get involved in the conversation and support MPP,” said PFQC Director Kelly Turner.
Sen. Grassley is a senior member of the Senate Finance Committee and could be a key figure when it comes to protecting access to quality care and medical equipment by ending competitive bidding.
PFQC is reaching out to durable medical equipment providers in key states to sign similar letters to their senators. In Connecticut, Waterbury Medical Equipment Supply gathered more than 100 signatures of beneficiaries and community members in support of the MPP program. People for Quality Care will send their letter to Connecticut senators by April 1.
