More than 380 members of the HME industry signed up for “Your Audit Action Plan,” an HME Business webinar hosted on Wednesday that focused on how providers can fight audits both legislatively, and within their businesses.
Sponsored by HME software company Brightree LLC, the free event featured multiple speakers addressing a range of topics. On the call were American Association for Homecare President and CEO Tom Ryan; Kim Brummett, Vice President of Regulatory Affairs for AAHomecare; Jay Witter, Senior Vice President of Public Policy for AA Homecare and Steve Andrews, General Manager of Revenue Cycle Management for Brightree.
The speakers address topics ranging from:
- The current status of the audit program, including the two-year delay in assigning administrative law judges, and how it is impacting providers.
- How providers can help advance H.R. 5083, known as the Audit Improvement and Reform Act (known as the AIR Act), which seeks to reform CMS’s audit program.
- Difference audit tools, such as AAHomecare’s audit checklists and audit tracker, well as ways to use software, to help gain control over audits and assess their impact on provider businesses.
- The AAHomecare-Brightree Audit Key initiative, which aims to generate credible audit data and statistics that would help the industry reform CMS’s audits.
