Laurence Wilson, CMS Chronic Care Policy Director, will deliver the keynote address at next week’s Washington Legislative Conference, according to a statement from the American Association for Homecare, which is hosting the event.
Wilson’s address will provide attendees an inside look at CMS’ current thinking. This is important given that the event — slated for May 7-8 at Washington, D.C.’s Omni Shoreham hotel — helps educate providers on how to speak face-to-face with lawmakers about addressing key regulatory challenges such as competitive bidding.
In addition to Wilson, other high-profile speakers that will address attendees include:
- Rep. Jim Renacci (R-Ohio), who participated in the Round One Rebid as a medical supplies provider and understands the challenges our industry is facing.
- Kim Brandt, Senate Finance Committee Chief Healthcare Investigative Counsel for the minority, who was a key participant in the recent Senate Finance Committee meeting on Medicare audits.
Audit Legislation
Another highlight for the event will be in regards to audit reform. AAHomecare reports that it has been been working with its council leadership and legislative experts to introduce new audit reform legislation, which it will discuss further at the Washington Legislative Conference in just two short weeks.
“The Washington Legislative Conference is your opportunity to come to DC and help drive the industry agenda with policymakers,” said AAHoemcare president and CEO Tom Ryan. “There are going to be major developments with audit reform and we will need everyone’s support.
“I know first-hand how hard it can be to get away from the office when you are running a business,” Ryan also noted, “but if you want to have a seat at the table and be a part of the solution, then this is a can’t-miss event. See you in D.C.”
