Ms. Wheelchair America Slated for Heartland

2012 titleholder Joise Bader will attend expo, various events at the June show.

Josie Badger, Ms. Wheelchair America 2012, will be a special guest at the VGM Heartland Conference June 4-7., where  she will attend the event's hog roast, the exhibit hall at Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center, and will also be part of a luncheon workshop.

Badger is working on her doctoral dissertation in health care ethics at Duquesne University. She is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, and graduated summa cum laude from Geneva College, where she majored in disability law and advocacy. Badger is employed at the PEAL Center, where she is youth coordinator for the State Implementation Grant, and assists young people with health care transition and leadership development. She also works for the ActNow grant, which is funded through the Pennsylvania Developmental Disabilities Council.

Ms. Wheelchair America 2012 was a founding member and president of the Pennsylvania Youth Leadership Network, and works with Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh’s Family Forum and Ethics Committee. She was named Glamour Magazine’s 11th Top College Woman of 2006.

Her platform is empowering and developing leadership skills in young people with disabilities. Through her reign, she will promote the elimination of architectural and attitudinal barriers and inform the public about the achievements of people with disabilities.
