H.R. 1041, the House bill introduced by Representatives Glenn Thompson (R-Pa.) and Jason Altmire (D-Pa.) that calls for the repeal of the bid program, has gained seven additional co-sponsors in support of the bill since our Oct. 6 update, bringing the bill’s total number of backers to 163.
The gains came after an industry push to drive support to the bill during October’s Congressional Recess. The newest backers of the repeal bill continued to demonstrate the proposal’s bi-partisan support with an almost even blend of Republicans and Democrats. Notable state support came from Kentucky and Mississippi.
The latest co-sponsors to sign on are:
- Rep. Frederica Wilson (D-Fla.)
- Rep. Ed Perlmutter (D-Colo.)
- Rep. John Yarmuth (D-Ky.)
- Rep. Steven Palazzo (R-Miss.)
- Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss)
- Rep. Brett Guthrie (R-Ky.)
- Rep. Tim Murphy (R-Pa.)
