Atlanta Provider 271 of Inc. 500 Fastest-Growing Companies

Extrakare also ranked 25th fastest-growing private healtcare business in U.S.

HME provider Extrakare LLC (Norcross, Ga.) was ranked 271 on the 2009 Inc. magazine list of America's 500  fastest-growing private businesses.

The provider was also ranked the 25th fastest-growing private healthcare business in the United States and the eighth fastest-growing private business in Atlanta.

Co-founded by Scott Lloyd and Kevin Godwin in 2004, Extrakare is a full-line HME supplier with an emphasis on home oxygen and PAP therapy. The provider serves the greater metro Atlanta area and says it tries to differentiate itself by providing patients with innovative, patient-friendly products. Extrakare says much of its success is due to its local ownership and management, which helps it be responsive to the needs of its patients, their caregivers and referral sources.

"We are pleased to have the hard work of our employees recognized in a national ranking,” Lloyd said. “We are proud of the people that have worked so hard to make Extrakare successful.”

"Our disciplined operating model has allowed the company to expand at high annual rate, while preserving an excellent reputation with patients and the Atlanta medical community at large,” Godwin added.

I have a small dme business and would like for someone to hear my side. With the cuts in medicare, inhalation medicine for instance, the cut was terrible for us .Then came more cuts on oxygen, what in the world are they thinking? I laid off at least 6 employees and the competive bidding will be devastating for me and my family as well as my patients. The only thing I have going for me is that I happen to be a Respiratory Therapist. But an old one.My patients like to be seen monthly but there is know way we can do that. Charity is a thing of the past. Its a shame we can bail out the car industry but does no one think about the people that won't get the care they deserve in their old age.People that took care of us all their lives. I am sick of the governments big spending and what for? Thanks so much
