National Mobility Equipment Dealers to Host 16th Annual Conference

The National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association (NMEDA) will host its 16th annual conference Feb. 7-9 at the Ocean Center Seaside, Daytona, Fla.

NMEDA is known internationally as an organization committed to ensuring quality and professionalism in the manufacturing and installation of safe and reliable mobility equipment in vehicles for drivers and passengers with disabilities.

The conference begins Wednesday, Feb. 7, with keynote speaker John Hockenberry, author and investigative correspondent for "Dateline NBC." Hockenberry is the author of "Moving Violations: War Zones, Wheelchairs and Declarations of Independence," his memoir of life as a foreign correspondent.

The Association for Driver Rehabilitation Specialists (ADED) will present pre-conference seminars, with the opening of the exhibit hall, Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The exhibit hall will open Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Friday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Providers can view a wide variety of exhibits and products and learn about the latest equipment for providing transportation solutions for people with disabilities. Providers also can strengthen supplier relationships for better service and solidify product offerings with the newest equipment available.

Hundreds of exhibits will include the latest in adaptive equipment, technology and services. Workshops include current changes in the Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, the NMEDA Guidelines and Quality Assurance Program (QAP), the automotive industry (DaimlerChrysler, Ford, General Motors and Toyota) as well as legal and loss-risk issues, how to maintain a successful vehicle modification business, and the industry from the manufacturers' point of view. Providers can voice opinions and comment freely in the "Dealers Only" Open Forum.
