The American Association for Homecare is calling on providers to contact their Congress members and urge those lawmakers to sign a House sign-on letter asking the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services to stop cuts to complex rehab wheelchair accessories.
Reps. Bill Johnson (R-Ohio), Diana DeGette (D-Colo.), Mike Kelly (R-Pa.), Dave Loebsack (D-Iowa), John Larson (D-Conn.), and Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) drafted the sign-on letter, which asks CMS Administrator Andy Slavitt to maintain the current payment policy and prevent the application of competitive bid rates to complex rehab wheelchairs accessories. Bidding rates could reduce CRT chair reimbursemen by 20 to 50 percent, which would radically reduce access to very vulnerable patients.
The process to support the letter is simple: Providers should click here to send their letter. After entering their zip code, the process takes one or two minutes.
Lawmakers’ signatures are required by noon on March 27, so providers are urged to act fast.
