The American Association for Homecare named Cara Bachenheimer, senior vice president of government relations at Invacare Corp. and Joel Mills, chief executive officer of Advanced Homecare as the 2014 recipients of its Homecare Champion Awards.
The award recognizes AAHomecare members who have made exceptional contributions to the homecare community during their careers.
“These two people embody leadership,” AAHomecare president and CEO Tom Ryan said. “As some of the most influential forces in the homecare community, they are well known for both their service to the industry and their passion for helping patients. AAHomecare is honored to present this award to Cara and Joel for their steadfast commitment to the homecare sector.”
Bachenheimer is a regulatory, legislative, government relations expert who has worked on behalf of the HME industry for nearly 20 years, not only with Invacare, but with AAHomecare as vice president of member services, as well.
“Cara Bachenheimer is a consensus builder who sees the big picture,” Ryan said. “… Her strategic advice and counsel have helped guide the industry through some of its biggest challenges
Mills has been a longtime provider, starting work in the industry as a teenager, and eventually becoming an AAHomecare trailblazer, as well.
“From starting in homecare at 16 and learning the business from the ground up to revamping and becoming CEO of Advanced Homecare, Joel Mills is well known for his passion for the industry, patients and employees,” said Ryan. “As one of the original members and chairman of the AAHomecare Board of Directors, he has played a pivotal role in leading the industry. “
AAHomecare will present the awards to Bachenheimer and Mills at the Stand Up for Homecare reception at Medtrade at 6:30 pm on October 21, at the Metro Atlanta Chamber, in Atlanta, Ga.
