A longtime HME industry member, McDevitt joined Brightree in 2012 after a leadership role at a Michigan-based provider. He current serves in a technical and relationship management capacity with Brightree’s Revenue Cycle Management team.
The need to evolve HME supply chains is critical given that inventory and operations are two of providers’ biggest cost centers at a time when those providers must cut costs and drive efficiency.
“The supply chain previously was more paper and purchase order-oriented, whereas now it is about how quickly you can get it, how efficiently you can get it, and therefore inexpensively you can get it,” McDevitt said in an interview with HME Business for the September feature, “Links to Success.”
Now, providers are starting to work with models in which the connect with distributors to order product for patients that gets drop-shipped to the patient’s home, and the provider never actually physically touching the inventory. Understanding these types of supply chain models and how providers can implement them is the crux of the presentation.
Key points the webinar will cover include:
- The differences between traditional DME supply chains and new models, and the approach to evolve into new ways of doing business.
- Implementing new supply chains, the technology tools that make it possible, and how to test and optimize supply chain performance.
- Identifying and developing new business opportunities through a new supply chain approach.
- Real world examples of new supply chain models and how they work.
