HME industry accrediting organization The Compliance Team (TCT) recently was awarded two approvals to expand its services to industry providers; one at the federal level and one at the state level.
On the federal level, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) approved TCT for initial recognition as a national accrediting organization for Rural Health Clinics (RHCs). On the state level, Florida’s Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) formally approved TCT’s accreditation program for HME/DMEPOS.
RHC Accreditation
CMS’s RHC approval means that the federal government now recognizes TCTs rural health clinic standards as meeting or exceeding federal standards for participating in Medicare. Rural health clinics seeking Medicare certification or recertification through accreditation can avoid wait times for agency surveyors by contacting TCT directly to ensure that their accreditation survey is timely completed.
“We are very pleased that CMS has once again placed its confidence in TCT and recognizes our dedication to quality care and patient safety,” said Sandra Canally, RN, CEO of TCT. “We welcome this opportunity to partner with CMS to help ensure the timely review and accreditation of Rural Health Clinics so patients in these communities have continued access to these important health care resources.
“Being approved by CMS’ Certification and Survey Division is a really big deal,” she added. “Now that we have demonstrated the capacity to receive CMS deeming authority for both Part A and Part B health care providers, we [TCT] are the accreditation choice for our Rural Health Care Providers.”
Florida Approval
Although The Compliance Team is approved by CMS as a national accrediting organization for DMEPOS providers, recently enacted Florida law requires that AHCA ensure that accreditation organizations incorporate into their quality standards Florida’s licensing regulations for HME providers.
Florida’s AHCA’s approval means that both in state and out-of-state providers who wish to do business in Florida can now use TCT’s accreditation services as a formally recognized means to meet the state’s provider licensure requirements without having to incur a visit from the State.
“We are very pleased that the State of Florida has placed its confidence in The Compliance Team and recognizes our dedication to patient care and safety,” Canally said. “We welcome this opportunity to partner with ACHA to help ensure the timely review and accreditation of Florida HME and DMEPOS providers.”
