Raleigh, N.C. sleep and respiratory provider Active Healthcare Inc. has started offering the Provent non-invasive treatment for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).
Considered the gold standard in the treatment of OSA, CPAP is extremely effective when worn as directed. Provent Therapy was developed to help patients who cannot tolerate CPAP therapy
Provent is a disposable, prescription device that treats mild, moderate and severe OSA using a MicroValve that is placed over the nostrils and secured with hypoallergenic adhesive. During inhalation, the valve opens allowing nearly unobstructed airflow. During exhalation, the valve closes, limiting airflow through small openings, which increases expiratory pressure and keeps the airway open, preventing disruption in breathing.
"Untreated sleep apnea increases one’s risk of diabetes, weight gain, stroke, and high blood pressure," said Lisa Feierstein, RN, co-founder of Active Healthcare Inc. “We’re excited to offer Provent as a new treatment option to our sleep disorder patients.”
Active Healthcare has created a Provent Acclimation Program to guide patients during their adjustment to the therapy. Through regular contact “The Sleep Team” at Active Healthcare, patients will have direct access to techniques to maximize their success with Provent.
“We are committed to helping our patients discover the best treatment option for their lifestyle and health.” Feierstein added.
